In 1976, CECI expanded its services overseas to a number of highway projects in Saudi Arabia, including:
The Al Ula-Tabouk-Dhuba Highway: A 2-lane primary road, 440km in length, located in the northwestern part of Saudi Arabia crossing through the rocky mountainous area and mountain ridges. The highway has one interchange at Tabouk, 120 bridges (including 10 steel composite type viaducts) and more than 1,000 box culverts. CECI carried out the reconnaissance study, route comparison, and preliminary and final design.
The Rumah-Tapline-Khafji Highway: Located in the eastern part of Saudi Arabia, this 2-lane primary road is 395km long and has one interchange, four bridges and more than 500 box culverts. The road passes through the desert area with five big sand ridges and bypasses a swamp area. CECI services included the reconnaissance study, route comparison, and preliminary and final design. |
